6 Weeks and Counting!

Two days before I hit 6 weeks the morning sickness started and was relentless. Of course, I knew about morning sickness, but no one told me how it could be and that it wasn't tied down to just the morning. I have been nauseous morning to night and have been throwing up one to two times a day. I can eat and have been eating- whatever might sound good. I haven't been cooking at all. I can't even be in the kitchen for more than a few minutes because the smells and sights of food push me over the edge.
Poor Garrett has been making food and grocery shopping for the first time in his life! haha. I am praying that this will go away when I reach the second trimester. I am ready to be active again and to feel well again!
Today I am in my 9th week and Wednesday I will be at 10 weeks. My first doctor's appointment is October 5th at 10:15 AM. I am praying that everything goes smoothly and that my little baby is healthy and strong.

Spreading the News

We planned on waiting until I was closer to the second trimester to start telling people, but with the excitement and morning sickness that I was experiencing we knew that we couldn't keep it a secret any longer! Since we live in Moscow,ID and our families live in Boise, ID; Oregon; and Colorado we had to give the news by phone. We began calling our families one by one and everyone was so excited for us. The news was taken so well and I feel so blessed to have family that support us no matter what and always are there for us.
They were so excited that it made it more real for us.
Thank you family for your love, support, and excitement!

August 19,2009

Garrett was at work and I was at home doing my daily things. I noticed that I was late and decided to look up "pregnancy symptoms" online. I had a feeling that I should do a pregnancy test. So, I went to the store, picked up a pregnancy test, and after saying a prayer I took the test. I waited anxiously as time ticked away. Staring at the test I saw a second line appear and I was shocked! I had a goofy, crazy smile plastered on my face! I ran around the house and jumped around. After I had settled down a bit, I called a Christian clinic that gives free pregnancy tests and scheduled an appointment for the next day.
I didn't want to tell Garrett over the phone and so I was planning on waiting until he got off of work, which was about 6 hours away! Garrett called me about an hour later asking me to meet him for lunch. He never can get away for lunch, and I knew that this was the perfect opportunity to tell him. I wrapped the pregnancy test up in wrapping paper and stuck a bow on top.
Our 3rd anniversary was the next day and I was planning on telling Garrett that it was an early anniversary gift.
He walked out to the car, gave me a kiss, we made a little small talk, and I pulled the gift out of my purse. I said, "happy anniversary!" He opened it up and just stared at it...he had opened it upside down and he didn't know what it was! haha. I said, "it's upside down!" and flipped it over. It took him about one second to realize what it was and he just lit up and started laughing! He looked at me and said, "really?!" and I said, "yes! We're having a baby!" We just talked, laughed, and kissed and hugged the entire lunch break. He was thrilled.
It wasn't planned by either of us, but I know that it was planned by God. We feel so blessed to be having a baby. What a miracle.
